Major bets:
Here you can find a short review of all the Major bets that you can find in a common betting site.
1x2 - Win-Draw-Win
1x2 is the most common bet:
1 – a win for the home Team
X – draw
2 – a win for the away team
H.T Result - Betting for the results in halftime
The same as above (1x2)
Number of goals in the game: over/under
Betting on the number of goals scored in the game by the two teams.
The bet usually appears like this: “Will the number of goals in the game be over or under 2.5?”
Correct Result - Game results:
A bet on the results of the game (1-0, 1-1, 2-3, etc.)
Lead in halftime and winner: half time / full time
This bet includes two bets: what happens in halftime (X,1,2) and what’s the end score (X,1,2).
First to score goal
Who is the first player to score a goal in the game.
Handicap
This bet is intended to equalize two competing teams by reducing the number of points/goals of the leading Team and adding points/goals to the weaker Team and thus equalizing their chances.
For example: Team A (-1) 2.2 – Team B (+1) – 2 and draw- 2.9
This means: Team A starts the game with minus one goal and in order to win (in -1 bet) we need the difference between the goals will be at least two. The result will be a draw (bet X) in case Team B will score one more goal than Team A, and the result will be a win for Team B (bet 2) in case the result will be 0-0 or if Team B will score more goals than Team A.
Asian handicap
For advanced gamblers.
In Asia it’s a bit more difficult. They took away the draw and balanced the teams by giving priority (by points or goals) to one and handicap to the other.
You think this is simple? It really isn’t!
Example:
Let’s go back to Team A and have it play with Team C this time. Supposing Team A has the advantage so for this example we will balance it by placing a bet of:
1. Team A: -2
Team C: +2
And we will give winning odds of 1.8 to each one of the teams.
If the end result is 2:2 the investment goes back to the gambler (no matter who he bet on).
2. Team A: -2.5
Team C: +2.5
And we will give winning odds of 1.8 to each one of the teams.
At the end of the 90 minutes plus extra time the game ends in 0:0. Those who bet on Team A lost and those who bet on Team B won.
There are usually handicaps of whole numbers and half numbers: 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5…
There are also more complicated bets such as 0.25 handicap and 0.75 handicap.
Here is an explanation for experienced gamblers and people who were good math students:
0.25 handicap
In case you bet on the Team with a +0.25 handicap and the game ends in a draw you will only get half of your winnings. In case you bet on the Team with a -0.25 handicap and the game ends in a draw you will lose only half of your investment.
For example: let’s go back to Team A and Team B, Team A (-0.25) and Team C(+0.25) – 1.8.
In case you bet on one of the teams and it wins – you won the bet. In case it loses – you lost the bet.
In case you bet on Team A and the game ended in a draw, you lose half of your investment.
In case you bet on Team C and the game ended in a tie, you win half the betting odds.
0.75 handicap
In case you bet on a Team with +0.75 handicap and the game ends with a difference of 1 to the leading Team you will get only half of your winnings.
In case you bet on a Team with -0.75 handicap and the game ends with a difference of 1 to the leading Team you will lose only half of your investments.
For example: Team A (-0.75) – Team C (+0.75) – 1.8
In case the game ends in a difference of 1 for Team A and you bet on Team A you get half of the betting odds. In case they lose you lost your bet.
In case the game ends in a difference of 1 goal for Team A and you bet on Team C, you lost half of your investment.
EXCHANGE
Lay – offer bets, Back – buy bets.
